I trust all of you enjoyed your 4 day weekend and are looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
Not to scare anyone, but Trimeseter One ends on November 29th, a mere 27 school days away. This means you must stay focused on your class work and ask questions when things aren’t going well.
9th – We are finishing the poetry unit with the sonnet recital and then moving into a Reader’s Workshop. The Reader’s Workshop requires students to read 150 pages a week and complete a one-page assignment. This will allow students to read at least 4 books before the end of the trimester. 2 days of the week will be given over to reading so students can complete the reading in a timely fashion. SAT vocabulary, and small grammar mini-lessons will also be given during this time. The students will complete this reading unit with a Graded Writing Assignment based on one of the books they read.
S+ – Lesson 4 vocab was due today and we continue, and hope to finish, Flowers for Algernon, by the end of class tomorrow. Students have one more GWA to complete for the class as well as two oral presentations, one a book talk/review and one a group presentation. These assignments will be discussed in greater depth in the next few days.
