9th – We are beginning this trimester with both the research essay and To Kill a Mockingbird. Students have chosen a topic and we have looked are turning the topic into a thesis statement. Students will be working on each element (Introduction, Body, Conclusion, Works Cited page and in-text citations) in class with the expectation of polishing the work done in class, at home. The final essay will be due by mid-trimester, about January 17th. Students will also be using class time (mainly Tuesday and Thursday reading days) to read the novel in-class. Students will be expected to complete a quiz after every chapter or two. These quizzes will collectively become a summative score on the content of the novel.
S+ – We begin reading Night and The Diary of Anne Frank this trimester. Night will take approximately a week and a half to read. Students will be completing formative assessments about both novels, including one-pagers, before a summative essay is given. Also, students will be working on a personal narrative story to share.
